2 Samuel 5: 1 - 10, 1 Chronicles 11 - 12 (1st May) - Kelvin

2 Sam 5: 1 – 10

Over here, the scripture talks about how David became King of Israel. It was revealed that David became King at the age of thirty only. Personally, it is a very young age for one to become King. It is only possible because God favors David who was a man after God’s heart. Likewise, every one of us can be an authority in our individual marketplace if we put God’s interest in our heart.

1 Chronicles 11- 12

After Saul was dead, the people of Israel were determined to make David king over them. In verse 11:9 – And David became more and more powerful because the Lord Almighty was with him.

This is like a summary verse for me in today’s quiet time. It seems like nothing can contain David from gaining authority. The Lord was with him and God made David so powerful that others are joining him from everywhere! Even the best of the best were gathered together in David’s army to fight for him. Interestingly, what struck me was when they were willing to risk their lives to the extent of wanting to satisfy their King’s thirst! The loyalty seen here was simply very strong, which I believe is because the people see God in David’s life.

Something that I realized here was, the same can happen to each of us especially leaders and leaders-to-be, if our people see Jesus in our lives! I mean it is definitely not to the extent of risking their lives for our sake but more about seeing them being committed and accountable to you. I believe that would mean that we are to be constantly praying for them and their personal needs/struggles. In the process, showing them that in God, there is always deliverance, abundance and peace.
