Mark 14, Matthew 26 (9th November) - Sylvia

Jesus's time has come. He predicts the timing of his death, him being betrayed by Judas and disowned by Peter.

One significant event to note is that whilst Jesus was eating at Simon the Leper's, a woman went up to him and poured expensive perfume oil on him. Imagine the touching scene, the lady spent a large portion of whatever she had, probably even all, simply to spend it on Jesus.

Jesus already knew which disciple was going to betray him and whom was going to disown him. Isn't it sad, pouring your heart out to your sheep and teaching them all that you know, loving them, and in the end, they abandon you?
Jesus understood it all too well. After all, in the end, as he got arrested, his disciples all deserted him and fled.

Reflection: Which one of us will abandon Jesus and forsake him for money/pressure/fear of being persecuted? Will we stick out through the tough times and endure hardship for Him?

Jesus appears before the crowds and is simply accused of blasphemy when he prophesises and gets sentenced to death - It was all a plot to find an excuse to kill him.

God loves us so much that He sent Jesus, His only Son to die for our sins, so that we may be saved and have eternal life. Will we remember this grace?
