Lamentations 1:1 - 3:36 (25th August) - Li Juan

Lamentations was written by Jeremiah for the mourning of Jerusalem. Jeremiah’s intense burden of sympathy for Jerusalem discloses the love and sorrow of the Lord for the very people whom He is chastening. It is a similar burden to that which the Lord Jesus Christ expressed in His lament over Jerusalem (Matt 23:37-39).

Lam 3:22-39 is a recount of God’s faithfulness. The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him. Though He brings grief, He will show compassion, so great is His unfailing love, for He does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.
