John 13, Luke 22 (10th November) - Sylvia

These chapters give similar accounts yet there is a slight difference is their accounts of the night before Jesus was crucified which had not been mentioned in the book of Matthew and Mark.

John 13

In this book, you see that Jesus washed his disicples' feet during the Passover feast. Jesus did it as a demonstration of humility and love. It was to set an example for his disciples to be humble, stay united and love one another as He as their teacher and Lord and humbled himself to wash their feet, so should they do for one another.

This the same, as brothers and sisters together ina tribe, we should always have a spirit of humility and always be willing to learn from our fellow spiritual family and not brush off their words of wisdom.

Luke 22

Here, you see that during the last supper, the disciples actually quarrelled amongst themselves, comparing who was the greatest disciple among all. Isn't it silly that they could argue over such wordly and trivial matters when Jesus impending death was more important as they should be spending more time, talking and knowing his heart?

Jesus told them that they should all be focused on their ministry and not concerned over such stuff. For all of them were his faithful disciples and would be given tribes to rule over. The ultimate master they serve was Jesus.

Sometimes, we as disciples may have bone of contentment or some jealousy/ envy arising in us when we feel our leader is not treating us as well as another cell mate. Or we may even think ourselves superior to others. However, in God's kingdom, we are all equal!! so we must be careful not to allow Satan to cause disunity and unsettlement within our cell nor tribe nor church!
